I pray one day you can visit Bangladesh/Bengal as well... the land of a thousand rivers as its known, where the boatmen sing songs of tagore and lalon as they ferry one across islands of silt that can come up and disappear over the season... one day 🤞..
This is stunning. Quietly powerful and beautifully meandering, like the rivers you write about. I especially loved the way you let the oranges speak for a season you won’t see, and the way the river in Seville becomes every river you’ve ever known. It made me think about the rivers in my life. Thank you for sharing something so layered and tender. I’ll be thinking about this line for a while, “A woman who is also a flood.”
very beautiful !
thank you!
Wonderful words, and so much that resonates.
I appreciate that, Sumayya <3
